The edits people make every day

Each screenshot below is this editor working on a real photo.

A portrait cut out from its background, shown on a transparent checkerboard in the editor, with the Layers panel beside it

Remove the background from a photo

Click Select Subject and the editor outlines the person for you. Delete what is around them, then save a PNG with a transparent background or put a new background on a layer underneath.

  • Clean up edges with Select and Mask
  • Background Eraser for hair and soft edges
  • Save as transparent PNG or WebP

Iris blur in the Blur Gallery: the face inside the ring stays sharp while the wall behind is blurred

Blur the background, keep the face sharp

Iris blur keeps everything inside the ring in focus and softens the rest, like a portrait lens. Drag the ring to fit your subject and set the strength in pixels.

  • Iris, field and tilt-shift blur

Crop to the size a post needs

Choose 1:1, 4:5, 16:9 or 9:16 and the crop box keeps that shape while you frame the shot. Type an angle to straighten a tilted horizon in the same step.

  • Rule of thirds and golden ratio guides
  • Resize to exact pixels with Image size
  • Perspective crop for photos of documents and screens

Add text that stands out on any photo

Type on the image, pick a font and size, then add a drop shadow or stroke so the words stay readable on a busy background. The text stays editable.

  • Warp text into arcs, waves and flags
  • Shadow, stroke, glow and color overlays
  • Text layers survive in saved PSD files

Questions before you start

Do I need to install anything?

No. The editor runs in your browser on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iPhone and iPad. Open it and start editing.

Can I open and save PSD files?

Yes. Layers, groups, masks, text, adjustment layers, smart objects and layer styles are kept when you open a PSD, and saved when you export one.

Is it good for beginners?

Yes. Everyday edits such as cropping, cutting out a subject or adding text take one tool each. Layers, masks, Curves and Liquify are there when you want more control.

Can I use it for professional work?

Yes. PSD files open and save with their layers, text and effects, so you can pick up a designer's file or hand yours over. TIFF and PDF export are there too.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. The layout adapts to phones and tablets, with a tool dock in thumb reach, panels that slide up from the bottom and pinch to zoom.

What happens if I close the tab?

Your current document is saved in the browser as you work, so it is waiting for you when you open the editor again on the same device.

Can I undo a mistake?

Yes. Every step is listed in the History panel. Press Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z on a Mac) to step back, or click any earlier step to return to it.
